I utilize an approach that takes the best conventional interventions I have found, mixed with overlooked, creative interventions which I refer to as Sanook Therapy. All of us have various levels of victimization. I am a fan of seeking healthy outcomes through a process I have named Victor-ization.
5 steps of Sanook Therapy:
1: Discuss problem/challenge in depth, including the pain and difficulties. I listen in an objective and nonjudgmental manner. This is cathartic and initiates healing.
2: Two parts to life:
a) circumstances
b) healthy distractions, opposed to the unhealthy distractions which lead to additional mental health symptoms.
Healthy outcomes result from managing circumstances with blend of healthy distractions
3: Sanook: Transforming the mundane into enjoyable and meaningful. We all have a relationship with our routine, which results in mental health symptoms, both healthy and not. Learning to have a healthy relationship with our routine is significant for our mental health, including making necessary changes in our routine.
4: Personal Wellness Check represented by each digit on the hand. Thumb: Physical Health. Index finger: Mental Health. Middle finder: Social. Ring Finger: Spirituality. Pinkie: diversion from the routine.
5: Issues ending in a coping skill; to manage problem, reduce victimization and transforming to victor-ization, thriving, and to instill hope. Victimization is the condition. Victor-ization is the goal.
I use many other interventions as well. I believe in being a custom fit for each client.
